How Do I Keep My Cat From Peeing Everywhere?
I posted this question once and nothing seemed to work. My 15 year old cat lately has been peeing everywhere around his litter box. I don’t understand why. He doesn’t have a urinary tract infection, his litter box is away from his food. I cleaned his entire room and rearrange everything. No matter what he will use the litter box once or twice and then pee in front of it. My mom is saying she will get rid of him if he does not stop. He is fixed, and there are no female cats around. Someone please help me!
He may be spraying to assert dominance. Try putting orange peels in the area you don’t want him peeing on (not in front of the litter box). Also, if you see him about to do lift him up and put him in the litter box. This seemed to work with my old male.
Hi.
I notice the same with my parent’s cat.
Whenever my dad cleans his litter box, he uses it straight away for one or two pees. That’s it.
Until it’s clean again he does not use it anymore!
Maybe your cat is going thru a OCD fase! Overclean! As soon as he smells his poo or pee he rejects the litter box!
Try keeping a record of when he uses it and how clean the box is and you might get to a conclusion.
Hope it helps.

My cat did that to and my mum tried to give him away but we found out why he was doing it. it was because the kitty litter got to dirty .you had change it alot . so we just got a different kind of kitty litter and he never had that problem again
15 years in cat years is very old. in human terms would be classed geriatric.
it sounds to me like he might just be going a bit senile just as some humans do.
my cat did the same and his personality progressively changed alot at about this age.
maybe his bladder’s not all it used to be and you need to change it more frequently than in the past.
change the litter box as soon as he’s used it, cats are clean animals and wouldn’t be keen to use a dirty tray.
plenty of newspaper around the area can’t hurt either.
my cat soldiered on until he was 20 and continued to show lots of affection. RIP Rambo
If he’s using the litter box once or twice and then peeing outside of it, it probably means he doesn’t like to use a dirty litter box. Try scooping it more often or get a second litter box.
Does the litter box have a hood or cover on it? He might not like that the smell is getting trapped in the box.

The same thing just happend with my 15 year old dog, we thought she was just getting old, did you see a vet ?
my mom threatend to put her down, but we went to the vet and it turns out that she had a kidney/liver diesease ! I felt soo bad, but now she’s much better, and hasn’t peed in the house since, I don’t know if it will be teh same for cats, but it’s worth a shot
I’m so sorry to hear that you might have to give her away,
but if it does turn out she has a problem and you have to put her down ( not that it is likely, don’t worry) just remember that it is best for him and that you’re doing him a favor and it’s what he needs.
hope it all works out
