My brother went to the Dr. and discovered he had this heart murmur and the Dr. gave him lexapro and I looked up the drug and it says it shouldn’t be taken if yu have heart disease….What is this going to cause?

You know, the pink ribbons and such, Baseball players wearing pink for a day and looking ridiculous, etc. Shouldn’t women be wearing different color ribbons and marching for a cure for heart disease, since it kills far, far more women than breast cancer does? It can’t possibly be that heart disease is suffered by both women and men that heart disease doesn’t get its due, can it?

My doctor prescribed me medication for my cholesterol but it’s side effect is too much for me. Then my doctor prescribed me another medication for my cholesterol but this time, it makes me vomit and dizzy. None of the two medication works because I had my blood test and my cholesterol shoot up. Any suggestion?

I know eating poorly and not exercising can lead to a build up of cholesterol and plaque in your heart’s arteries. I am just curious if one starts a diet and exercise program after a bunch of cholesterol has built up, will the build-up go away or is it there forever (other than surgery)?

My brother in the philippines has a rheumatic heart disease for 2 years and the doctors just found recently that he has cholecystitis, Im just worried because the doctors doesnt want to remove the gallbladder.

If you are on a low cholesterol diet, how much cholesterol should you consume per day?
My doctor told me my cholesterol is 260 and that I need to lower it.

Someone in my family has COPD and heart disease, which may include enlarged heart and definetely arrhythmia. I add no salt to food and make sure canned goods, such as sausages are rinsed. This goes for ham and many other salty foods.
Still, in last two years when she got very ill_having been diagnosed with COPD and some of the heart problems few years earlier_and having been in and out of hospital in at least five occassions, I still believe a lot of her crisis have to do with whatever additives (including salt) there are in packaged goods. By the way none of the doctors_and there have been plenty of them_have “strongly” cautioned against salt. Until unfortunately she has a crisis, which inludes a sort of inbalance, such as sodium being LOW instead of high, or normal for that matter. The potassium sometimes gets high, towards the end of her stay at hospital. And of course there’s the worse part which is the high concentration of carbon dioxide, occurring in patients w/COPD.

How often should you get your cholesterol checked if you are having problems controling it?
