It is decided by the treating doctor depending on the levels and associated diseases if any.

Never, cholesterol levels have no correlation to heart disease. High levels can be a sign that you have other problems but controlling cholesterol will have no beneficial effect. The drugs are poison and the diet they recommend does not work, so why test?

  • If you are having problems with it and your doctor is making adjustments (either diet or medication), every 8 weeks is about normal. That’s what we do in our cardiology clinic. Eight weeks gives us good insight into whether or not the changes we made are working. Once it’s under control we usually then check every 6 months or yearly

Speak to a Nutritionist about foods that can help your cholesterol issues. Pink grapefruit is beneficial and there are lots of good cooks books out there. Call your local Heart and Stroke Foundation and they can tell you some good ones… as well as give you other tips.
Every 6 months, unless its clearly causing you more issues. And ask your doctor to get on your back about making better choices (lifestyle and diet).
