postheadericon What’s The Difference Between Friends And Acquaintances?

I hang out with some people and meet them alone sometimes but they don’t really seem to be that bothered. But they invite me to stuff. I am confused with the different.
The description I gave above, are they friends or acquaintances?

an acquaintance is somebody you go to school with or work with.
a friend is somebody you can call at 2 in the morning and ask them to bring you some gas because you ran out.

It seems like they think of you when they think you will enjoy what they plan to do. They could be friends.

friends are the people you know you can call after no contact for x amount of months or years and will always come to help they are the ones you can count on 1 hand. Acquaintances are the ones you see most days and pass the time of day with, might spend a lot of time with but you know deep down they would never be there if the push came to the shove

well I would say that that friends are people you can phone up and chat with and go out with and tell them things etc and acquaintances are people you know but aren’t friends with – like a woman you chat with at work or someone you see in a bar regularly and smile and say hello too.
The people you describe sound more like friends, just not very close ones.

  • Friends- People you like and people that like you
Acquaintances- People who you dont like, but yet dont hate.
